This is one of my favorite times of the year, well me along with millions of other people. The presents have been bought, given and received. We have our tummies full of good food and wonderful treats which we usually eat only during this time of year. Maybe we’ve played games, cards or built a snowman with family and friends. Or maybe watching football and cheering on your favorite team is more your style.
Now we are getting ready for the New Year’s Eve countdown and the New Year’s Day parade. We are anticipating the new year coming up and wondering what it will bring us. We all wish for a happy new year which brings us excitement, joy, and everything good.
Unfortunately, the direction our new year takes us may be determined before it even starts. At this time of year, especially, it is too easy to drink and drive. The result of that, all too often, ends up being disastrous not only for the driver but the passengers and anyone else who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I don’t want to be a downer here. This is a very festive time of year, and I don’t want to take away from that. I just want to do what I can to make sure everyone gets home safe. Some of you may be celebrating your first New Year’s Eve without supervision and behind the wheel of a car.
Here is a video of a teen who got drunk and then got behind the wheel of a truck with several of his friends as passengers. Not only did he hurt his friends, but he also changed the lives of some people he didn’t even know. I want to show you this video so you can see what can happen.
My wish for you is to not have anything like this happen to you!
Happy New Year to you! Bee safe! Luv, Aunte Bee
